overview

This self-initiated piece playfully approaches the eternal debate of analogue versus digital - here, in communication. Viewers are invited to touch and interact with an analogue object (the mechanical typewriter) with each keystroke momentarily activating an LED illuminated letter. From a distance, onlookers are presented with a series of pulsing letters, symbolising the momentary nature of digital communication (as they do not remain lit and the message vanishes). However, for the individual interacting up-close, a physical record of their message (and previous ones) is offered.
